I quit

Posted by: Jolvin on: December 1, 2008

Someone took moral responsibility
Someone listened to his conscience
Someone was put under pressure
They all quit
I wonder who will clean up the mess – or will that person quit too?

A city under siege

While our state politicians were busy fighting over pohe and pav, vociferously defending the terror attacks in Malegaon and blaming the ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) as partisan, they gave a red carpet welcome to approx. 26 militants to hold the financial capital to ransom. And this time it was not some coward militants who planted [...]

‘Three’ to Tango

Posted by: Jolvin on: August 18, 2008

I never thought I would be so clued in to the Olympics this time around. Having lost interest from the 1988 edition I came back to watch the Olympics with the same zest that I had before 1988. Obviously in those days it was to watch the superpowers like US, USSR, Germany and China fight [...]

A Room with a view – definitely!

Posted by: Jolvin on: July 12, 2008

I’m amazed how my ‘imminent’ death has gathered so much attention…
For one I am staying at the Historic District in Philadelphia – The most important place in American History. Besides after all my cribbing on the view from my window, I walked around the hotel today and realised that it’s the view of the Christ Church cemetary where four [...]

Going in a circle

Posted by: Jolvin on: July 4, 2008

All my bags are packed
I’m ready go…
Well what follows is almost a song of forgiveness that John Denver so fluidly renders and what made him immortal cause he died in an aircrash. This post is however not about that. This post is about traveling.
I’ve gone over the Atlantic many a time but this is the first [...]

Glory be to you

For a boy of 10 years the concept of reaching the finals of the World Cup of One Day Cricket may not have been such a big thing. Only after realising that the only time his country ever won a match before that was back in 1975 that too laboriously against minnows then known as East [...]

BEST in London

Posted by: Jolvin on: June 2, 2008

For those who aren’t aware where the ubiquitous Double Decker BEST bus in Mumbai is modeled on, it is a legacy passed on by the erstwhile British Raj. Obviously it was modeled on what was there in London. While the ones in London underwent a change and became more modern with hydraulic doors et al [...]

Geni~tics

Posted by: Jolvin on: June 2, 2008

I am amazed with what people are doing these days in the web world, especially what we call all things web 2.0. Facebook, Amazon, Orkut, Goodreads etc, but the one that has caught my eye rather another addiction I must say is Geni. I succumbed to peer pressure once more, got introduced in a harmless [...]

Chak De India

Posted by: Jolvin on: September 24, 2007

The last time I was so happy I was 10 and then 12, when India won the Prudential World Cup in 1983 and the World Series in 1985 respectively. This win has eclipsed both of them as I have been waiting for 22 frickin years to be so happy.
Congratulations Team India – T20 Champions…Chak De India….

Never in dependence ever again

Posted by: Jolvin on: August 15, 2007

I have seen 33 of them, but I missed the 34th, that incidentally was your 60th. Though I missed it in flesh, I have my best wishes for you in spirit.
May you never be in dependence of anyone and grow stronger year on year. Take care Ma…
